This summer, I was fortunate enough to help for 15 days on the SAMARCH parr tagging project. As well as taking part in important research work, it was a wonderful opportunity to see bits of the countryside that would normally have limited access. I enjoyed learning from the researchers on both teams, not just about the target species but also about other aquatic species and the ecology of chalk streams in general. I’m grateful to have had the chance to gain experience in using field equipment, as well as the chance to learn about the industry from experienced professionals.
